Swiss Moto3 rider, 19, dies after crash

Swiss Moto3 rider Jason Dupasquier, 19, died from injuries sustained in a crash in qualifying at the Italian Grand Prix, organisers MotoGP announced on Sunday. “We’re deeply saddened to report the loss of Jason Dupasquier,” MotoGP said on Twitter. Dupasquier fell and was struck by another bike, before sliding along the track, during Saturday qualifying. Doctors rushed to the scene and airlifted him to Florence’s Careggi hospital. The teenager underwent chest surgery overnight “for a vascular lesion”, a hospital spokesman said earlier Sunday.
