3 more black fungus patients die in Lko
TILL NOW, 30 BLACK FUNGUS PATIENTS HAD DIED IN LKO WHILE OVER 100 HAD UNDERGONE SURGERY
: Three more black fungus (mucormycosis) patients died in the city during treatment on Sunday while 14 fresh cases were admitted to hospitals. Those who died included a 65-year-old woman of Arjunganj who was admitted to the King George’s Medical University.
“In all, 12 black fungus patients were operated upon in the past 24 hours to save their lives,” said Dr Sudhir Singh, spokesperson, KGMU.
Till now, 30 black fungus patients have died in the state capital at different hospitals while over 100 have undergone surgery. Meanwhile, the Red Cross issued 100 more injections amphotericin B to attendants of patients. To note, patients in government hospitals get the injection from the hospitals while those admitted to private hospitals need to get it from the Red Cross. “The number of applications has gone up and we have a waiting list for 1200 amphotericin B injections. We have distributed about 565 injections since May 20,” said Om Prakash Pathak, chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Lucknow.
Case filed against attendants at KGMU
Police complaint was lodged against attendants of a black fungus patient who died at King George’s Medical University on Sunday. “The 45-years-old male patient from Lakhimpur was serious with chest infection and was put on ventilator but unfortunately he died. Cops were called when the agitated attendants misbehaved with the medical staff,” said Dr Sudhir Singh, spokesperson, KGMU.
