CORONA CURFEW EASED IN 6 MORE DISTRICTS IN UP

LUCKNOW : The Uttar Pradesh government will relax the coronaviru­s curfew in six more districts from June 1, it was announced on Monday. With this, 61 districts will be allowed to open markets and shops (outside the containmen­t zones) on weekdays (Monday to Friday) from 7 am to 7 pm, Tuesday onwards.

Fourteen districts (out of 75), including Lucknow, will continue with the partial corona curfew.

In relaxation­s announced on Sunday, the partial corona curfew was lifted in districts with less than 600 active Coronaviru­s cases. The districts added to the list on Monday are: Sonbhadra, Deoria, Baghpat, Prayagraj, Bijnor and Moradabad. The additional chief secretary (home) Awanish Kumar Awasthi issued an order adding these six districts among those that will see the curbs lifted from 7 am on Tuesday.

The 14 districts that will not see relaxation­s are Meerut, Lucknow, Saharanpur, Varanasi, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Muzaffarna­gar, Bareilly, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Bulandshah­r, Jhansi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Jaunpur and Ghazipur.

The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday had announced a relaxation in curbs and had set the benchmark of “less than 600 active Covid-19 cases” for a district to be entitled to curfew relaxation.

However, the weekend corona curfew (Saturday and Sunday) and night curfew will continue state-wide.
