BODY OF 6-YR-OLD FOUND IN POND, RAPE FEARED

Body of a six-yearold girl was found floating in a pond in Safdarganj area of Barabanki on Monday, said police officials. The family members have alleged rape with the minor girl. Two police teams have been formed to investigate the matter and the main accused has been arrested.

SP, South Barabanki, Manoj Pandey said, “The eyes of the girl were injured, and the body was sent for postmortem investigation to ascertain the actual cause of death. The incident is being investigated.”

According to the girl’s family, she was kidnapped from her home late on Sunday night.

The father has accused one Ajay Kumar, his neighbour, for the rape and murder and registered a complaint against him.

The father of the minor girl and Ajay are reportedly involved in a dispute over land.

“The father has alleged that Ajay kidnapped the girl from the house and killed her after raping her. Based on his complaint, we have lodged an FIR and arrested Ajay,” said the officer. Meanwhile, senior police and district officials visited the village and met the family of the minor girl.
