UPCC HOLDS DIGITAL DHARNA, DEMANDS MINISTER’S DISMISSAL

- LUCKNOW

: Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) on Monday held a statewide digital ‘dharna’ demanding immediate dismissal of minister of state for basic education Satish Chandra Dwivedi and protest the state government’s decision to hold intermediate examinations without vaccinating students and teachers.

UPCC president Ajay Kumar Lallu led the digital ‘dharna’ at the UPCC headquarters here. Other party leaders held digital ‘dharna’ programmes at the party’s district headquarters.

In a press statement, Lallu questioned the state government for appointment of minister’s brother Arun Dwivedi in general quota for economically weaker sections (EWS). He said the state government was playing with lives of teachers and students by deciding to hold intermediate examination without vaccinating them. Lallu quoted statistics of annual income of the minister and his wife in 2016-2017 and alleged that the minister misused his authority to get an EWS certificate for appointment of his brother. He also questioned the state government for not getting a case registered after getting an inquiry conducted into the appointment.

Others who led the digital ‘dharna’ included Congress Legislature Party leader Aradhna Mishra ‘Mona’, Congress leader in Vidhan Parishad Deepak Singh among others.
