Gear up at 6pm to enforce night curfew: Yogi to police
In three more districts, markets and shops to open in the daytime; corona curfew to continue in Lko, 10 other districts
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday asked the police to get active from 6 pm onwards daily to enforce the statewide night corona curfew. The directions have come at a time when more and more districts in the state are qualifying for ease in the partial corona curfew.
From Wednesday 7 am, opening of markets and shops from 7 am to 7 pm will be allowed in three more districts, taking the total number of such districts to 64. The remaining 11 districts, including the state capital Lucknow, will continue to be under partial corona curfew.
“The Covid recovery rate in the state is now 96.9% as there has been a steady and whopping fall in the number of active cases. In the past five weeks, the active Covid cases fell by 89.5% and the positivity rate is merely 0.4%. But continue aggressive enforcement of restrictions regarding the statewide weekend curfew (on Saturdays and Sundays), the statewide night curfew and partial Covid curfew in the 11 districts (where the number of active cases is above 600)”, Yogi said while discussing the Covid-19 situation in the state with Team-9. Yogi Adityanath said that the policy of ‘trace, test, treat’ and aggressive testing bore positive and satisfactory results. “On April 30, the state had 3.1 lakh Covid patients and now the active cases are 32,578. More than 16.7 lakh patients recovered from the infection (since March 2020). On April 24, the state had 38,055 Covid cases on a single day. But the infection rate has gone down and in the past 24 hours the state recorded just 1,375 fresh cases,” he said.
Talking about Covid vaccination in the state, Yogi Adityanath said: “From today (Tuesday), the vaccination for 18-44 year age group has been extended to all the 75 districts in the state (Till Monday only 23 districts vaccinated the 18+ age group people). UP continues to be number one nationwide for the maximum number of vaccinations. Till now, the state has administered a total of 1.82 crore doses. Run the mega vaccination campaign in the state with zeal and following all the Covid safety protocols. Make people aware to avail the facility of ‘parents special vaccination booths’ set up statewide for facilitating vaccination of parents of under-12 year children,” he said.
On expressways’ construction in the state, the CM said that the work was going on fast on the Purvanchal and Bundelkhand expressways while for the Ganga expressway, the longest in the country, 60% land acquisition was accomplished.
Regarding the training of human resource for tackling the predicted third way of the pandemic, Yogi said that training of the master trainers was on in Lucknow and Noida and now pediatric care training for doctors and nurses too had begun.
Curbs eased in 3 more dists
Three more districts--Lakhimpur Kheri, Jaunpur, and Ghazipur--will have relaxation in corona curfew. In these three districts, markets and shops will open from 7 am to 7 pm from Wednesday. This is because active Covid cases fell below the benchmark of 600 in the three districts, according to a Tuesday morning report.
On Sunday, the state government had announced relaxation in corona curfew for all districts with less than 600 active Covid cases. After Tuesday’s order, there are 11 districts where there would be no relaxations. These are Meerut, Lucknow, Saharanpur, Varanasi, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Muzaffarnagar, Bareilly, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Bulandshahr and Jhansi.
