Ex-SC judge Arun Mishra appointed NHRC chief
charge as the new chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission, officials said. Justice Mishra is the eighth chairperson of the commission. He is the first top court judge, who was not the chief justice of India, to be appointed to the NHRC post since the amendment of the Protection of Human Rights Act in 2019. Last year, the former SC judge said at a conference that PM Modi was an “internationally acclaimed visionary” and a “versatile genius”.
