Non-Covid services to resume at CHCs, PHCs, dist hospitals

-

The outpatient (OPD) services for non-Covid patients will resume at community health centres (CHCs), primary health centres (PHCs) and district hospitals in a restricted manner from Friday in addition to admissions, according to an official order.

All the hospitals and health centres will have to follow Covid protocols. In the district level hospitals, patients in need of different surgeries will be admitted.

According to an order from the office of additional chief secretary (health and family welfare) Amit Mohan Prasad, all centres conducting deliveries would resume such facilities. “Patients undergoing surgery should be tested via RT-PCR or TrueNat before being operated upon. All district hospitals will run post Covid treatment facility also,” said the order.

There are over 800 CHCs, about 3000 primary health centres and over 150 district level hospitals in the state. The district hospitals, CHCs and PHCs will run fever and flu clinics separately, which will screen people with Covid symptoms.

If CHCs have any Covid patient, they can shift them to Level-2 Covid hospitals to pave the way for running OPD and indoor facilities for patients.

“The infection rate has gone down, but all the protocol needs to be followed. Since the restriction on medical facilities is causing inconvenience to people in need of non-Covid facilities, hence attention towards non-Covid facilities is also important,” said the order.
