MINISTER REVIEWS POTABLE WATER PROJECTS

LUCKNOW: The Jal Shakti Department claimed that out of the 1.22 lakh schools in the state, 1.03 lakh schools have been provided with pure drinking water. The remaining schools will be provided potable water soon.

A review meeting was held under Jal Shakti minister Mahendra Singh on Wednesday, in which he reiterated that the state government was committed to providing pure drinking water to the people under the piped drinking water project.

The 172 drinking water projects in the aspiration­al districts as well as 165 projects launched in encephalit­is-prone districts will be completed on a priority basis, he said.

Singh reviewed the progress of various projects through video-conferenci­ng with officers of the Jal Nigam, State Drinking Water, Sanitation Mission as well as the state heads of the agencies.

The drinking water projects should be completed before the start of the rainy season, he said.

The work on the piped drinking water project is continuing in the districts located in Bundelkhan­d and Vindhya region.

The detailed project report of the remaining districts is being completed before the launch of the project, he said.
