19 fresh black fungus cases; seven recover in state capital
Seven black fungus (mucormycosis) patients were discharged after recovery, while 19 new patients were admitted and two patients died on Friday. The Red Cross Society distributed 150 Amphotericin B injections.
“In the past 24-hours two patients died. A 72-year-old man from Lucknow and another 44-year-old man from Gorakhpur died during treatment. Till now, KGMU has admitted 265 black fungus (mucormycosis) patients,” said Dr Sudhir Singh, spokesperson, KGMU.
The Red Cross society that has been given the task of distributing Amphotericin B injections to patients admitted to private hospitals, distributed 150 more vials. The demand is for 1,200 injections, and till now, about 900 have been distributed since May 20.
Patients at government facilities get the injections from there.
