- HT Correspondent letters@hindustantimes.com

BENGALURU: Google, the US-based search engine giant, on Thursday faced severe criticism over its search results that returned Kannada as the answer to a question on India’s “ugliest language”. While the company has apologised to the people, saying the search result did not reflect its opinion, the Karnataka government said it would issue a legal notice to the tech giant. According to the image shared widely on social media, the answer to a question, “What is the ugliest language in India?” was Kannada. The post triggered sharp reactions from people and politicians alike, with Karnataka minister for Kannada, Culture and Forest, Aravind Limbavali saying: “I demand an apology from @Google ASAP to Kannada, Kannadigas!” Google later deleted the response.
