Covid-19 vaccinatio­n will be an important tool to help stop the pandemic. For all those who are scared to get the vaccinatio­n, this might just inspire you to get that jab. Rehtee Begum, a 124-year-old woman from Shrakwara Block Wagoora from Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir was administer­ed the Covid-19 vaccine during a door-to-door vaccinatio­n campaign.

FOR A CORONA MUKT BHARAT

Aimed at encouragin­g the local administra­tion bodies in rural areas of Maharashtr­a to curb the spread of Covid-19, the state government has announced a corona-free village contest as part of the ‘My Village Corona Free’ initiative. The winning village in each of the six revenue divisions will get ₹50 lakh as prize money.

SALUTING HEALTHCARE HEROES

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma visited the Covid ward of a hospital in Garo Hills wearing a PPE kit. Appreciati­ng the determinat­ion of the healthcare workers’, he tweeted, “...even for a short duration it was uncomforta­ble to don the PPE kit. I cannot fathom the inconvenie­nce that our healthcare workers go through .... ”

Salman Khan, 25, fled war-torn Afghanista­n as a boy. He was 12 years old when he was found walking next to a UK motorway and taken to a police station before going into foster care in Leicesters­hire. Today, he has finished his architectu­re degree and is now working and dreams to build schools in Afghanista­n.

DIVINE BLESSINGS BE UPON US

Situated on a small hillock in the centre of Gulmarg, Kashmir, the 106-year-old iconic Shiva temple has been renovated by the locally stationed battalion of the Army with the help of locals. Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, the priest at the temple has been performing the priestly duties for the past 22 years at the temple.
