Tesla Model 3 cars land in India: Report

Three of American electric car manufactur­er Tesla’s Model 3 cars have landed in Mumbai on Friday, set to be further transporte­d and used for testing in Indian conditions, CNBC-TV18 reported citing unnamed sources. “More cars will follow suit as a flurry of activity takes place at Tesla, which is now stepping up efforts to ready its leadership team and set up its sales infrastruc­ture for a year-end launch,” CNBC-TV18 reported. The Model 3 is the most affordable car made by the world’s most valued carmaker is the company’s largest selling vehicle. The entry-level version of the Model 3 sells for around $40,000 (just under ₹30 lakh) in the United States. Backend work in underway by the company to launch the car in India by the end of 2021, the CNBCTV18 report said, adding that the cars currently being shipped to India are for testing and for local approvals and other compliance­s.
