Forest dept on alert after deaths of peacocks in Pratapgarh

-

After the death of at least 18 peacocks and some other birds at Baijalpur village in Pratapgarh district during the last two days, the forest department officials are on alert, and have issued instructions to forest rangers and other staff to keep a strict watch on birds and animals in forest ranges and inform them if they are found dead or unconscious. Officials claimed that no report of any dead animal or bird was received from any forest area of the district. Although, the experts are yet to ascertain the exact cause of death of peacocks and birds in Pratapgarh, it is suspected that that they might have died of heat stroke. A forest ranger said recent rains also filled the dried up ponds and pits in forest areas which are giving relief to wildlife from heat.HTC
