Patients visit OPDs, flout social distancing norms

LUCKNOW : Over 2,500 patients reached government hospitals and community health centres in the district on Friday as OPD services resumed after a gap of over 45 days. But several among them violated social distancing norms.

Doctors said the number of patients was less than usual. Over three dozen patients were advised admission for surgeries that will be performed after their RT-PCR test report is out. Over 100 went for ultrasound tests and another 100 underwent pathologic­al examinatio­n, they said. The Civil Hospital registered over 600 patients.

“We were running OPD service in a limited manner in select department­s for the past few weeks,” said Dr SK Nanda at the hospital.

As many as 150 patients came to see the doctors at Balrampur Hospital. Of these, maximum patients went to the fever clinic.

Patients started reaching the BRD Hospital in Mahanagar at 8am where staff was deployed to maintain social distancing. As many as 143 patients reached the OPD here.

At Rani Laxmibai Hospital, maximum patients were seen in the ophthalmol­ogy department. Here, a total 126 patients got registered in the OPD to see doctors in different department­s.

Health minister JP Singh reached the Sarojini Nagar community health centre and took stock of facilities. In all, 150 patients reached the OPD at the Malihabad community health centre while 112 visited the Nagram community health centre.
