HC STAYS TRANSFER OF NON-GAZETTED COPS DUE TO PANDEMIC
LUCKNOW: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court on Friday stayed transfer of three cops due to the Covid-19 pandemic and directed them to make a fresh representation before the director general of police.
Justice Vivek Chaudhary passed the order on a writ petition filed by Anup Kumar Singh and others.
All of them are non-gazetted police personnel, including head constables and are posted at different locations in the state capital.
“Looking into facts and circumstances of the case, the petitioners are permitted to make a fresh representation before the director general of police. The opposite party (no.2 DGP) shall consider and decide the said representation within six weeks,” said the court in a virtual hearing.
“Till disposal of aforesaid representation, the transfer order against the petitioners shall remain in abeyance,” added the court.
Advocate Saksham Agarwal appeared before the court on behalf of the petitioners.
All of them are posted in Lucknow and were transferred to different places across the state.
During hearing of the case, Agarwal pointed out that Lucknow is still under the lockdown conditions and serious challenges would be faced by family members of petitioners if they move out of Lucknow in this pandemic.
