BSP FORMER MLA QUITS PARTY
LUCKNOW: Bahujan Samaj Party leader and former MLA GM Singh on Friday resigned from the party. A two term MLA, Singh, who belongs to the Sainthwar community settled mainly in East UP, alleged that BSP leaders were demanding money for a party ticket for the 2022 assembly elections. “I am opposed to money power and nepotism in politics, I have sent my resignation letter to BSP chief Mayawati,” he said.
Singh was elected from Shahjanwa assembly seat in Gorakhpur district in 2002. Later, he was elected from Paniyara assembly seat in Maharajganj district in 2012. He lost the 2007 assembly election from Shahjanwa seat. Yet in view of his hold over the Sainthwar community, Mayawati gave him a minister status by appointing him chairman in a board.
Sources said, Singh was in contact with Samajwadi Party leaders and might contest the 2022 assembly election on SP ticket from Paniyara assembly seat that has considerable votes of the Sainthwar community.
