Will make UP rich in fragrant flowers, fruit trees: Akhilesh
LUCKNOW: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav said that his party will make the state rich with fragrant flowers and fruit trees and attacked the BJP government over environmental issues.
Akhilesh planted 21 saplings of Magnolia (a flowering tree) on the SP state headquarters premises on Saturday and said “during the rains, we (SP) will plant fruit trees as well. Will make our Uttar Pradesh fragrant with flowers and rich in fruit trees.” Akhilesh said this in a tweet in Hindi soon after the plantation ceremony.In a statement later, he attacked the BJP government saying that if anything got most damaged in the BJP governments’ (both the central and the state) terms, then it was the environment. “During the BJP regime, the crisis on forest assets and environmental balance
increased. Heat has increased in the environment and the effect is visible on the climate cycle as well.”
Talking about the BJP government in the state, Akhilesh said that this government had been running tree plantation drives every year but till date could not provide any details of how many trees and where they were planted.
“If we combine all the claims of plantations of each year of the term, then the entire UP would have become a forest till now. Truth is in the name of tree plantation corruption happened. “And now today, the government made a fresh announcement that it will plant 30 crore saplings. The party that had been planting lies and hatred kept on playing with the environment and the government has made a joke out of plantation drives,” Akhilesh said.
