RLD: NITI AAYOG REPORT REFLECTS POORLY ON UP

-

: The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has slammed the state government for being included among the five poorest and worst performing states of the country as per the latest report of India Index 2021 for sustainable development goals (SDG) released by National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog recently.

The SDG index evaluates the progress of states and union territories on social, economic and environmental parameters. Commenting on the report, RLD national spokesman Anupam Mishra on Saturday said NITI Aayog prepared progress reports of states and union territories in which 17 objectives, 70 goals and 115 indicators were included in 2020-21. “A small state like Kerala had achieved the highest position and a state like Uttar Pradesh, which has abundance of resources, still figuring in the five worst states and its performance raises many serious questions on the functioning, governance, power and polity of the state government,” he said.

Mishra said it was shameful for the government that contrary to the claims, UP was standing at the lowest rung with the most lagging five states on parameters like education, sex ratio, gender equality, sanitation and economic progress.
