LUCKNOW : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday reiterated that his government was fully committed to protecting interests of labourers. He said the government was running several schemes for their welfare.

He was addressing a gathering virtually after inaugurating the Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Mazdoor Sanghtan’s 35th annual convention from his residence here.

The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, he said, was a nationalist organisation that kept the county above anything else.

“Workers associated with the Mazdoor Kisan Sangh, the country’s largest workers’ body, are playing a positive and key role in realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream for a self-reliant country,” the chief minister said. He said this was because of the workers’ hard labour that UP was able to maintain uninterrupted supply of essentials and items like masks, sanitisers and PPE kits during the lockdown period.

The chief minister said the government was taking all possible measures to uphold interests of the working class. “We kept all industrial units running with the Covid protocol during the partial corona curfew so that workers did not lose job,” he said.
