After mayor’s intervention, encroachers to be relocated

-

: Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia has intervened in the ongoing tussle between encroachers and residents of Kala Kankar colony near old Hyderabad and directed the municipal commissioner to find an amicable solution after listening to both sides.

After mayor’s intervention, it has been decided to relocate the encroachers, living on nullah space, to Kanshiram colony.

The residents of Kala Kankar colony had met mayor Sanyukta Bhatia for two days - on Sunday and Monday - for removal of illegal structures on nullah, that they said obstructed their drains and posed a threat for the residents as anti-social elements assemble in these slums located on drains.

The residents said encroachers indulge in eve teasing , drugs and engage in other crimes near the colony whose entry and exit gates are also obstructed because the slum dwellers park their vehicles in front them.

Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia assured the residents of proper action against the anti-social elements trying to disturb the social harmony in the area.

“Both sides met me and I have called the municipal commissioner to prepare a plan of removing the encroachment, but before that all the encroachers must be relocated at a safe place,” she said.

“The encroachments on government lands and ponds would be removed and LMC would be very strict on this. Today I visited Keshri Khera ward encroachment on a pond land was removed. After that 1150 sanitation workers cleaned the area and lifted 77 metric tons of waste from the area,” he said.

Municipal commissioner Ajay Dwivedi said, “LMC has served the notice of evacuation to the encroachers. They cannot be allowed to live on nullah which is not good for their health. These encroachers would be shifted to Kanshiram colony for proper solution of the problem. The LMC officials are in touch with representatives of encroachers for their shifting.”
