The Uttar Pradesh government has set the target of providing 10 crore vaccinations within three months. Under ‘Mission June’ vaccination initiative launched by chief minister Yogi Adityanath, 2.07 crore people had been given jabs by the health workers till Tuesday.

Additional chief secretary, information, Navneet Sehgal said, under ‘teeka jeet ka’ vaccination scheme launched by the state government the health workers had inoculated 2,07,11,683 people till Monday.

Of these, over 30 lakh beneficiaries in the 18-45 age group had been given first dose of vaccine, he said. On Monday alone, 4.57 lakh jabs were given to the beneficiaries, he said.

The chief minister had directed the officers to give 6 lakh doses per day in June and increase the target to 10 lakh vaccine jabs per day from July, he said.

The big industrial units like Tata, Reliance and HCL have expressed their desire to provide assistance in the vaccination by procuring vaccines at their level. The effort of the business houses will be helpful in speeding up vaccination drive across the state, especially in rural hubs.

The state government will facilitate the effort of the business houses by contacting the central government, the chief minister directed the officers in the review meeting, he said.

Quoting chief minister, Sehgal said vaccination was a shield to protect the people from Covid-19.

“The Uttar Pradesh government in collaboration with the Central government is determined to provide vaccine cover to all citizens at the earliest,” he said. The state government is committed to protect the weaker section from Covid-19.

“The chief minister had directed the officer to make special vaccination arrangements for those belonging to socially and economically weaker sections. A special vaccination drive for the vendors, vegetable sellers, and rickshaw pullers, cart owners, drivers of bus, auto-rickshaw and e-rickshaw will be launched from Monday,” he said.

In coordination with the rural development, urban development and transport department, the booths for the underprivileged people will be set up in the offices of the Nagar Nigams, Nagar Panchayats and Transport Department offices, he said.

To encourage women and girls for inoculation, ‘Special Pink Booths’ (two in every district) has been established in the 75 districts. The pink booths have been set up in the District Women Hospitals or District Joint Hospital. Soon the pink booths will be set up at tehsil level too, he said.

The 3-T (test, trace and treat) initiative has helped the state government in bringing down the Covid cases by 96%, increasing the recovery rate to 97% and bringing down the daily positivity rate to 0.3%, he said.

A special drive for vendors, vegetable sellers, rickshaw pullers, cart owners, bus, autorickshaw and erickshaw drivers will be launched from Monday NAVNEET SEHGAL , ACS (Information)
