2 Rohingya Muslims held for living illegally

-

Two Rohingya Muslims residing illegally in Uttar Pradesh were arrested by UP Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) from Ghaziabad on Monday night, said senior ATS officials here on Tuesday. They said the duo was residing in the state on fake identity, an address proof of which was also obtained.

They said the two accused were identified as Noor Alam alias Mohd Rafiq and Amir Hussain, both living in a Meerut slum. A senior UP ATS official said the ATS team was searching for Noor Alam after arrest of his brother-in-law Azizullah from Sant Kabir Nagar on January

6 earlier this year.

He said the ATS had recovered two Indian passports from Azizullah. His arrest also led to clues on fake passport racket operational in the state. Azizullah was residing in UP with Indian identity nearly for past 18 years, said police.

The official Azizullah’s original identity is Azizul Haque, son of Mohd Shareef, resident of Burma’s Akkyab, Rakhaiyn district while he was living with the changed identity of Azizullah, son of Badre Alam, resident of Naura village under Butidang police station limits of Sant Kabir Nagar district.
