LUCKNOW: Despite being at home, students aged between 15 and 19 are doing their bit to give a fillip to the vaccination coverage.

Coming from different schools, these students are helping such people get registered for the vaccination who aren’t tech savvy.

“Till now 113 people have been administered the first dose of the vaccine in two weeks’ time and we are keeping track of their second dose as well,” said Yashvit Danani, a class 12-student and president Paws and Claws, the organisation of about 60 male and female students aged between 15 and 19 years.

So how did the idea come to help people get vaccinated? “My parents contracted Covid-19 and it was due to the vaccine they had taken that they got well soon. We thought if the vaccine can help my parents, so can others too, and we decided to dispel myths from peoples’ minds and also help those unable to book vaccination slots,” said Yashvit.

The team at Paws and Claws, which had been providing relief through work like distribution of food to the needy, came up with a new initiative: ‘Project Suraksha: 2 Shots To Life’, where vaccination was the target. From registration to slot-booking and then the second dose, all are covered under the project. The beneficiaries are drivers, housemaids, and househelps.
