YOGI: PREVIOUS GOVTS DIDN’T PAY ATTENTION TO HOUSING PROBLEMS
Adityanath distributes keys of houses constructed under PM, CM Avas Yojanas, says 70% beneficiaries women
LUCKNOW : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking care of problems of the poor and targeted his predecessors by saying that the previous governments did not pay any attention to their housing and other issues.
He was speaking at a programme organised at his official residence for the token distribution of keys of houses constructed under the Pradhanmantri Avas Yojana (Rural) and Mukhyamantri Avas Yojana (rural) at a cost of Rs 6637.72 crore being handed over to 0.55 million (5.5 lakh) beneficiaries in UP.

Yogi said it was due to the PM’s concern for the poor and the deprived sections that he got the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) formulated for them on April 1, 2016 and it was launched on November 20, 2016.
He was speaking at a programme organised at his official residence for the token distribution of keys of houses constructed under the Pradhanmantri Avas Yojana (Rural) and Mukhyamantri Avas Yojana (rural) at a cost of Rs 6637.72 crore being handed over to 0.55 million (5.5 lakh) beneficiaries in Uttar Pradesh. The chief minister said 70% of the beneficiaries of the houses provided were women.
Yogi began the distribution of keys with Prema from Ayodhya. He also gave keys to Anshu Devi of Rae Bareli, Mira Devi of Varanasi, Sangeeta Devi of Kushinagar and Barai from Sonbhadra district of the state. As he interacted with the beneficiaries, he asked them to name the schemes that were benefiting them.
Speaking to a beneficiary from Rae Bareli, Yogi said Prime Ministers in the past did not pay any attention to the problem and the benefits of government schemes did not reach them (the people).
He said 0.42 million (4.2 lakh) houses were constructed under the scheme in the past four years against 0.53 million (5.3 lakh) houses constructed in the past 30 years. This showed that previous
governments that did not take care of the housing problem of the poor, he said.
He asked the beneficiaries whether they had to pay any bribe to get the house.
CM suggests biogas plant, open gym
Suggesting that a biogas plant along with an open gym should be set up at the houses provided in the Londonpur-grant village of Lakhimpur Kheri, he said the houses were provided in a cluster like a township there.
Setting up facilities like a gym would boost the Khelo India scheme launched by the PM, he said, adding that Indians were performing well at the Paralympics Games in Tokyo.
