LMC for ban on sale of meat within 100m radius of shrines

LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) executive committee has passed a proposal for banning any sort of sale of meat, meat products and non-vegetarian eateries in a 100-metre radius of any religious place in the state capital.
LMC will now send this proposal to the district administration for strict implementation. The move comes soon after the entire Mathura city in western Uttar Pradesh was declared a teerth sthal (pilgrimage centre) and the sale of meat and liquor was banned there.
Wards renamed
Besides, four wards in Lucknow have been renamed after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) leaders. Faizullahganj I ward has been renamed as Maharishi Nagar ward, Faizullahganj III ward as Keshav Nagar ward, Faizullahganj IV as Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya ward, Jankipuram I ward as Bhaurao Deoras ward and Ayodhyadas II ward as Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil ward.
The Nirala Nagar Crossing number 8 has been named after BJP leader Bhagwati Prasad Shukla. Statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel would be installed in Patel Park of Niralanagar. Besides, several other statues would be installed, including Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil’s in Jankipuram ward, freedom fighter Sachindra Nath Sanyal’s in Jankipuram II ward, freedom fighter Mangal Pandey’s in Bhartendu Harishchandra ward and Lala Lajpat Rai’s statue in Lala Lajpat Rai ward.
Mohan Market, Guru Nanak Market shops
The Lucknow Municipal Corporation executive committee passed a proposal to sell the shops in Mohan Market and Guru Nanak market to their tenants. The municipal corporation will soon organise a special camp for the mutation of these properties in name of the tenants.
