AGRA Doctors and patients at the district hospital on Friday were amused to see an aged man with an idol of Lord Krishna in his arms crying inconsolably. The man said he was a priest and the idol slipped from his hand, breaking one of its arms. Now, he wanted doctors at the district hospital to plaster the arm.

Interestingly, to console the priest, chief medical superintendent at the district hospital Dr Ashok Agarwal bandaged the broken limb of the deity.

“The idol of ‘Laddoo Gopal’, 30- years- old, slipped from my hand while I was offering water to him. The idol fell and an arm was broken. So, I rushed to the district hospital to get the arm plastered,” said Lekh Pal, who is a priest in a temple in Kheria Mod locality of Agra.

‘The man at the window is not issuing a slip in the name of Krishna so I cannot contact the doctor,” complained Lekh Pal, who was finally referred to Dr Ashok Agarwal . Dr Agarwal tried to convince him that there was no need for plaster for broken arm of the idol but the priest was unmoved.

“I could not think of any other way to console the weeping priest and bandaged the broken arm of the idol. As expected, the priest Lekh Pal was satisfied and took the idol back,” said Dr Agarwal, justifying his act of consoling the priest insisting on treating his ‘Laddoo Gopal’.

The CMS also had a slip issued with the patient’s name as Krishna to satisfy the priest who, as per people, was very devout and not prepared to accept reality. The video of the priest crying with the idol of Krishna in his arms went viral on Friday.
