AFTER RAPE CASES, NOW THOSE OF CORRUPTION TOO WERE BEING PROVED AGAINST SP LEADERS, SAID UP BJP CHIEF SWATANTRA DEV

LUCKNOW : The income tax (IT) department’s search and seizure operation findings against various individuals and their business entities on December 18 elicited a reaction from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

UP BJP chief Swatantra Dev said the red cap wearing SP leaders had their faces red with shame. “After rape cases, now those of corruption too are being proved against Samajwadi Party leaders. Those who wear red caps now also have their faces flushed with red,” the UP BJP chief tweeted.

His response came a day after the tax agency came up with an official press release stating that those on whom the surveys were carried out were engaged in civil construction, real estate and running educational institutes in UP and Karnataka. The tax agency release didn’t mention any names, but it was evident that the date mentioned in the tax agency’s release (December 18) coincided with the surveys on many SP leaders. Those on whose premises searches for possible tax evasion were carried out included Samajwadi Party national spokesman Rajeev Rai in Mau, Manoj Yadav in Mainpuri and Jainendra Yadav and another businessman in Lucknow.

“A Kolkata-based entry operator has also been covered in the search operation. The search action covered more than 30 premises spread over various locations including Lucknow, Mainpuri, Mau, Kolkata, Bengaluru and NCR,” the press release issued by the income tax department in Delhi read.
