CASE AGAINST TMC SPOKESPERS­ON FOR SHARING ‘DOCTORED’ VIDEO

VARANASI: A case was registered against All India Trinamool Congress spokespers­on Riju Dutta on Friday for allegedly sharing a doctored video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s visit during early hours on December 14, said senior police officer.

Dutta shared the doctored video of PM Modi’s inspection at Godaulia from his verified Twitter handle on December 22.

Prime Minister Modi and CM Yogi Adityqnath did surprise inspection of Godauliya intersecti­on on the night of 13/14, said the officer.

The officer said that the FIR was lodged at Dashaswame­dh police station following a complaint by station officer, Dashashwam­edh.

Commission­er of police A Satish Ganesh said Twitter India had also been sent a notice under the CrPC by DCP Crime.

IP details have been sought from Twitter India and it has been asked to suspend the Twitter account of Dutta.
