12 teams for All India lawyers’ T20 tourney

LUCKNOW : As many as 12 teams of different courts across India, including Supreme Court, would be seen in action in the All India Lawyers’ T20 Cricket Tournament, scheduled to be held from December 25 to 30.

Disclosing this president of the Awadh Bar Associatio­n, Rakesh Kumar Choudhary on Friday said that besides Supreme Court of India, the other participat­ing teams include, Delhi High Court, Kolkata High Court, Uttarakhan­d High Court, Chandigarh High Court, Haryana Lawyers United, Allahabad High Court, Rajasthan High Court, Himachal State High Court, DLW-UP, AISA Delhi and hosts Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court.

Organizing secretary, Sanjay Bhasin also informed that tournament to be held on league cum knockout basis and the participat­ing teams would be divided into four pools.

The matches will take place at the KD Singh “Babu” Stadium, including BBD Stadium, LDA Stadium, Sahara Stadium and CSD Sahara Stadium.

The inaugural match would be played between Chief Justice Allahabad High Court XI vs. Rest of India High Court Judges on December 25.

Ajay Singh will lead the Lucknow High Court team, which also includes Shailendra Pathak, Shivmani Tripathi, Vivek Pandey, Adil Abbas, Kapil Gupta, Pratul Pratap Singh, Nikhil Srivastava,

Sumit Gupta, Abhishek Kumar Singh, Chandra Shekhar Mishra, Nishant Singh, Abdullah, Ashutosh Singh and Vivek Kumar.

FESTIVAL MATCH

Rohit Singh of Hindustan Times will lead Lucknow Journalist­s XI against Kanpur Jour-* nalists XI in a festival T20 match to be played on December 25, at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. UP Cricket Associatio­n has sponsored the match.

The other members of the Lucknow Journalist­s XI are: Rishi Sengar, Prahlad Mawri, Abhishek Mishra, Abhinav Shukla, Abbas Rizvi, Anis Oberoi, Javed Mustafa, Chandan Kumar, Rajeev Anand, Deepak Taneja, Prem Shanker Mishra, Sharad Deep, Gulshan Dwivedi, Anil Katiyar and SM Arshad.

The Kanpur Journalist­s XI includes Atul Tiwari, Pankaj Srivastav, Alok Awasthi, Bhoopendra, Ravi Panday, Pulkit Tiwari, Akash Chaudhary, Ankush Shukla, Ankit Shukla, Jitendra, Pramod Tripathi, Rahul Shukla, Owais, Rajeev Tripathi and Vaibhav Shukla. Seniors umpires Tarun and Kali have been named umpires of the match, whereas Kasim would be doing scoring. UPCA’s Anil Kamthan would be inaugurati­ng the match at 9.30 a.m.

ASSESSSMEN­T CAMP

An athletics assessment camp as part of the Khelo India scheme was conducted at SAI Lucknow here by Khelo India Talent Identifica­tion cell (TIDC).

17 Athletes, including eight boys and nine girls from across the country, went through their specialize­d assessment tests over the course of four days at the SAI Regional Centre here in Sarojini Nagar. Kamlesh Tiwana, high performanc­e manager, former Olympian Ram Singh Yadav, and National Centre of Excellence coaches oversaw the proceeding­s at the assessment camp.
