‘GOOD TO GREAT’: 60-DAY SPECIAL DRIVE LAUNCHED TO SCALE UP AMENITIES

Urban developmen­t minister Arvind Kumar Sharma on Friday virtually launched a 60-day special campaign to enhance the standard of civic amenities and beautify cities across the state with the slogan “good to great”. The special campaign will run in all 75 districts.

He also said now civic grievances will be resolved quickly through the helpline number 1533 that will work for all 75 districts of the state. The urban developmen­t department will soon operate this helpline.

1000 Amrit Sarovars (lakes) should be developed in cities of the state in the next five years under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav project, he said.

The air quality index of the cities should be improved by launching a plantation drive, he said.

Sanitation work from 5am showing good results. Cleaning in the second shift (4pm to 8pm) would also be made mandatory at all commercial places and main markets.

Crossings and trisection­s should have zebra markings. Signboards should be installed at various crossings and points so that people do not have trouble in reaching their destinatio­n.

A special sanitation drive should be launched at the tourist spots across the state, he said.

Streetligh­ts should be switched on and off at the proper time by the staff concerned, he said.

Cleaning of all drains must be ensured within 60 days so that there is no waterloggi­ng in the rainy season.

Now, deadlines are being set for specific tasks. For instance, the doorto-door garbage collection drive is to attain 100% coverage by June 15 AN OFFICER
