We should organise programme for guiding new doctors and also patients. Prepare programmes that can tell patients what to do when reaching KGMU. BRAJESH PATHAK, Medical education minister

LUCKNOW : The first 15-20 minutes in a hospital were most stressful for a patient, said medical education minister Brajesh Pathak on Friday, adding, “Make sure the patients get to know their first place of treatment within that time and welcome them to make them feel at home.”

The minister was speaking at the 100-day celebration of KGMU’s community radio. “You (doctors) can make patients welcome, solve their issues and put them at ease. Even the guard should ask them their problem, and guide them to the doctor and inform the doctor as well. This will certainly bring a major relief,” said Pathak who is also the deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.

“We should organise programme for guiding new doctors and also patients. Prepare programmes that can tell patients what to do when reaching KGMU. This will be a great help,” he said.

The minister took names of several doctors, including Dr Vinod Jain, the CEO of community radio, Prof A P Tikku, former dean of the dental wing of KGMU, Prof Sandip Tiwari, Dr Samir Misra and said, “I have known these doctors since decades and believe the medics here are doing their best. You are on number one position but it is hard to retain this position, so we need to put in more effort.”

The minister praised KGMU doctors for their work during the Covid pandemic.

Dr Vinod Jain presented the progress of the community radio in his address.
