LUCKNOW: City-based Jaipuria Institute of Management (JIM) organised an HR conclave on the theme of “Economic Crisis in the West: Impact on the Indian Job Market” on Wednesday.

During the event, several speakers expressed confidence in the Indian economic story despite global challenges.

Bullish on India’s growth, Praveen Purohit, deputy CHRO, Vedanta Resources Limited, said, “Despite the economic crisis in the West, most sectors in India are growing rapidly generating ample opportunities. This generation will bring change in every domain.”

Echoing an analogous opinion, Deepak Mishra, Head-HR, CP Group of Companies, said, “The economic crisis in the West may have some impact on our economy. However, our nation is an open economy and not a closed one. Hence, we are demand creators.”

Meanwhile, in her inaugural address, Kavita Pathak, JIM director, said, “Conclaves like these develop a well-rounded and holistic understanding of a business entity on the challenges facing the world of business. They are opportunities for students to validate what they have read and studied in the class.”

VP Singh, chairman of Asia Coaching Network, in his opening remarks, said, “While the global economy faces one crisis or the other almost every twenty years, it is important to sharpen & renew human competencies regularly to overcome these situations.”

In a similar vein, Chirag Suchak, head-talent & people operations, Settlin - Private Limited, said, “One should be resilient and bold at the time of a crisis.”

Separately, in a word of advice to students, Rajender Matharu, VP-HR, DCM Shriram Sugar, said, “Humility is the most important quality of a manager. It will take you a long way forward. Focus on your core competence and nurture it as a passion.”
