The wedding season is here. Since 2022 has witnessed glowing Bollywood brides, from Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, to Shibani Dandekar and more, we find out, the new trends that Lucknawi brides are going for when it comes to makeup and looks this season.

Bollywood is the way

Freelance makeup artist Meghna Malhotra says: “Bollywood brides keep experimenting with new looks and continue to raise the bar. Since 2022 has been a year of intimate weddings, more brides opted for a minimal makeup and keeping it real. I think days of heavy plastered makeup are gone. Brides in Lucknow too are going for natural and subtle look. Many of my clients are inspired by Alia (Bhatt) and Katrina’s fresh dewy makeup look. The modern brides do not want a complete transformation and look beyond recognition on their wedding day. They prefer to look their real self and stick to natural make up where they refuse to compromise on quality of products..”

Being a minimal bride

“When people say less is more, believe them,” believes owner of Smita Makeovers.

“Many a times, the subtle tones blend effortlessly with the bridal aura. I have been busy getting 3 to 4 bookings a day and sometimes I even have to ready five brides in that span. HD makeup rules the chart and price range between Rs 20000-25000,” she says. “Brides want to flaunt their natural charm and stay away from the all-out glam face. Dewy, glossy longlasting makeup highlighting best of their features is what brides in the city are asking for. There also has been a lot of buzz around using coloured eyeliners with heavy lashes and pushing the level of creativity when it comes to doing eye makeup to perfection,” Shukla adds.

Red pout is never out

“Red is not only a traditional bridal shade, it is also the unfailing makeup look that never goes out of style. Many brides still want to go for authentic red look.

Leaving hair free, low puff, shesh phool style with maang teeka all are in this season. High bun are surely a no no. We’re talking about the hue that makes for the best pout and that is deep red paired with a brown smokey eye, perfectly filled in brows and a well sculpted face. Colour red brings focus back on brides and helps them make a statement,” says managing director of Vandana Pandey Makeovers.
