SIX KIDS DROWN IN TWO INCIDENTS IN SIDHARTH NAGAR DISTRICT

GORAKHPUR : Six youngsters, including a girl, drowned in two separate incidents in two different rivers, in the Siddharth Nagar district, on Tuesday.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the incident and expressed solidarity with members of their families.

The first Incident took place in village Imlahia, under the Uska police station of district Siddharth Nagar, where four youth drowned in River Kurna while bathing. They reached deep water and couldn’t come back. Circle officer Akhilesh Verma confirmed the deaths and said that on the request of the parents an autopsy was not conducted, and the bodies were handed over to the next of kin.

The deceased were identified as Allauddin 13, son of Salahuddin; Shadab, 14, son of Younus; Sahil, 12, son of Reyaz and Shoeb, 14, son of Waseem. They had all come to their relatives’ house during summer vacations.

Other youths who were also bathing raised an alarm seeing them drowning. Villagers informed the police, who along with divers started rescue operations but could only recover the bodies of the boys.

In the second incident that occurred in village Baidauli, under the Bansi police station of district Sidharth Nagar, Mohammad Samir, 15 and his 12-yearold cousin, Mahak, drowned in River Rapti while bathing.

Circle officer, Bansi, Anuj Kumar Singh, confirmed that Samir who had come to his relatives’ village and his cousin sister Mahak both drowned in River Rapti.

Police personnel fished out their bodies and conducted an autopsy.
