ICAR-CISH celebrates 40th foundation day
LUCKNOW: The ICAR-Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture (CISH), Rehmankhera, Lucknow celebrated its 40th foundation day on Thursday.
On the occasion, an exhibition was organised in which different mango varieties were showcased.
The dignitaries who were invited to the event were given a tour of the technology museum, and experimental fields to see the mango, guava, amla, bel, and jamun varieties developed by the institute that have reached from farm to fork.
Chief guest Major Singh, member, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board, New Delhi in his address underlined the importance of orienting research towards evaluation of neutra ceutically rich horticultural crops for nutritional security and for improvement in the livelihood of the growers.
He added that traceability is essential right from planting material to the value chain to attract the European Union and USA.
The chief guest honoured the eminent scientists of the institute and the farmers for their contributions.

Damodaran, director, ICARCISH explained the future focus of research on the climate resilient horticulture, nutraceutical rich varieties of mango, guava and jamun, and strengthening of research on value chain for domestic and export markets.
“The institute has developed the protocol for sea route export of mango. The institute is collaborating with mango pack house for export using ICARCISH technology,” he said.
Later, Shailendra Rajan, ex director, ICAR-CISH presented the long-term breeding outcome of mango and guava in the institute.
