Jal Sansthan probe hints at breaking of tank lock
LUCKNOW : Officials of Jal Sansthan have initiated an investigation into the incident to find out as to how the youth (now deceased) and his friend gained access to the locked structure. “The tank, which is equipped with locks at two places and a top cover, presents barriers before entry. Despite that, they entered to shoot reels is hard to believe,” said executive engineer Sachin Yadav.
“The water tank is tightly sealed with two locks securing its entry points and a narrow iron lid covering the access point. Additionally, there are stairs and holding points within the tank for maintenance purposes. It is very hard for anyone to enter there,” he added.
The discovery of the boy’s body outside the tank has further complicated the investigation. “The tank is designed for only one person to enter at a time. If the boy had died inside, it would have required the assistance of at least two individuals to remove the body from it,” Yadav said.
During the inspection, the

team found the lock on the upper door broken, while the lower gate was undisturbed. This indicates that whoever gained access to the tank did so by bypassing the lower gate and forcibly breaking the lock on the upper door.
The circumstances surrounding the boy’s death have left both authorities and the police perplexed, with speculation mounting about how he managed to breach the locked enclosure and what events led to his tragic death. As inquiry continues, the Jal Sansthan authorities have appealed to public for sharing any information that may shed light on the mysterious circumstances surrounding entry of the boys for making reels.
