Hima UNICEF’S youth ambassador

NEW DELHI: India’s national record holder in women’s 400m Hima Das was appointed youth ambassador of UNICEF India in a function held here on Wednesday. World junior champion and Jakarta Asian Games silver medallist would act as role model to youngsters in the country. After her appointmen­t she said: “Every child regardless of their background and gender should get an opportunit­y to learn and thrive.” Das also welcomed the move of her being strictly monitored by National Anti-doping Agency (NADA) saying it was a sign of being a good athlete. “Whatever the rules are we have to follow them. I have no problem with it. It is a very common thing for good athletes (to be tested regularly),” said Das.
