Eight-lakh new voters added to updated list

Nearly eight lakh eligible persons have been added to the voters’ list following the revision of electoral rolls and amendments, with which the number of voters in the state now stands at nearly 1.56 crore, which includes approximately 71.5 lakh females.

Haryana chief electoral officer Srikant Walgad said in a release on Tuesday that as per the order of the election commission of India, photo voter lists of all the assembly constituencies in Haryana had been amended with January 1, 2014 as qualifying date by including all eligible electorate of 18 years or above.

“The draft roll for summary revision 2014 with January 1, 2014 as qualifying date had been published on September 6, 2013,” said Walgad, and added that “the applications in respective forms had been invited from the public for inclusion, deletion and modification of entries”.

The last date for submitting applications was October 25, 2013. He said that after taking appropriate action on applications received between September 6 and October 25, all eligible voters had been included and names of ineligible voters removed from the lists, thus the list for final publication has been prepared.

He said that the final publication of these lists would be carried out by the commission on January 15 at all publication sites for inspection by people. He appealed to all the voters to visit the concerned block level officers (BLOs), electoral registering officers or assistant electoral registering officers to check the voter lists and ensure that their names have been included in the lists, all information was correct and names of ineligible voters had been removed from the list.

“In case there was any other fault in the electoral rolls and if a name was not included in the lists, the complainant should immediately submit duplicate copies of concerned forms number 6, 6A, 7, 8 and 8A to BLOs,” said Walgad.

The final lists of the year 2014 have been uploaded on the website of department www.ceoharyana.nic. in for checking the same.
