Museum to be set up in memory of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur
FATEHGARH SAHIB: The Sirhind Fateh Divas celebrations concluded with fanfare here on Wednesday. Various functions, including competitions of martial arts and kabbadi, were held.
Prominent personalities, including Giani Gurbachan Singh, jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib, SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar and for mer president Shrimoni Committee, Prof Kirpal Singh Badungar and for mer MP Akali stalwart Professor Prem Singh Chandumajra and interim committee member Karnail Singh Panjoli were present on the occasion.
The function concluded in the Diwan Todar Mal Hall at Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib where speakers addressed the concluding function.
Avtar Singh Makkar said that the day was observed to commemorate the victory of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur when he captured the Sirhind city and hoisted the Sikh flag in Chappar chiri on May 14, 1710.

He also said a museum would be constructed where the history of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur would be exhibited and the building would be constructed in the shape of “khanda”.
Giani Gurbachan Singh also addressed the gathering and said that the true victory of the Sikh community would be when they would be able to make the society drug-free.
He said that there was a dire need to fight the evil of female foeticide.
