Palwinder Singh, CIA incharge, said that the victim, retired major 70-year-old Assa Singh, a resident of Ambala told the police that he contacted Randhir Kaur for getting married as he was staying alone in Ambala.

The police further said that Randhir Kaur promised him to find a match in a widow. She demanded ` 8 lakh from the retired major for helping him to get married. She claimed that she had arranged a match for him.

The case took a new turn when she told the retired major that the bride’s brother Mohit Kumar had committed suicide.

Randhir Kaur claimed that the bride’s brother had mentioned the retired major’s name in the suicide note and threatened him that he would be facing a criminal case regarding thematter.
