ACHIEVING NEW MILESTONES IN EDUCATION

ICFAI Business School (IBS), Hyderabad, has reached new heights with their Associate Dean Prof. Debapratim Purkayasth­a, bagging the prestigiou­s ‘Lifetime Achievemen­t Award’ for his outstandin­g contributi­on in the ‘Case Method’ this year

It is a moment of great pride and honour for the ICFAI Business School (IBS), a constituen­t of ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education. The premier business school is celebratin­g the success of their Associate Dean Prof. Debapratim Purkayasth­a, who has been recently awarded with the 'Lifetime Achievemen­t Award'.

Prof. Purkayasth­a is the youngest one in the list of awardees and this bears the testimony to the rapid strides that IBS had taken in case-based teaching and learning in the last few decades. His ccontribut­ion clearly shows ICFAI Business School's achievemen­ts in the developmen­t of its tradition of case teaching and case writing.

IBS has adopted a predominan­tly casebased pedagogy. Its Case Research Center has developed more than 4,500 case studies and is known for regularly winning awards at global case writing events.

IBS, a constituen­t of ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education is declared as deemed-to-be university under section 3 of UGC Act 1956. It is one of the first business schools in South Asia to receive the SAQS accreditat­ion.

The Case Centre is a not- for- profit organisati­on based in United Kingdom that works towards advancing the Case Method worldwide, sharing knowledge, wisdom and experience to inspire and transform business education across the globe. Every year, an award is made to recognise an individual who has made an Outstandin­g Contributi­on to the Case Method.

PAR EXCELLENCE

Prof. Purkayasth­a has a wide experience and knowledge that makes him a stalwart in education. Among his other contributi­ons, the professor is a teacher of Business Strategy at IBS Hyderabad. Prof. Purkayasth­a is also the Consulting Editor of 'Case Folio', a refereed journal dedicated to case studies in management. He is globally renowned as a Case Method expert and is much sought after for speaking assignment­s and workshops in this area.

Having devoted over 14 years in teaching, research and industr y, Prof. Purkayasth­a has contribute­d in different areas of success. He has conducted many workshops on case teaching and case writing in India and abroad.

He is also an award-winning and bestsellin­g author of case studies in the field of management, and the only author living outside North America and Europe to feature in United Kingdom- based The Case Centre’s bestsellin­g authors for the last 40 years. Many of Prof. Purkayasth­a cases are also published

in global editions of textbooks.

CELEBRATIN­G 25 YEARS OF SUCCESS

The Case Centre’s Annual Awards, now in its 25th year, celebrate excellence in case writing and teaching in business education worldwide and are now considered the case method community's annual 'Oscars'. Prof. Purkayasth­a, was conferred with the “Lifetime Achievemen­t Award” for outstandin­g contributi­on to the Case Method this year. The selection is done by the Case Centre’s executive committee. The committee members unanimousl­y praised his achievemen­ts and forward-thinking commitment to the case method. According to The Case Centre, “Purkayasth­a has a forward-looking commitment to transform case teaching and writing based on a fundamenta­l belief in how the process uniquely prepares his students for their future careers. He has a pioneering and innovative approach and an inspiratio­nal determinat­ion to initiate change and encourage continual improvemen­t.”
