SP prisons behind murderous attack on me, claims DSP
JALANDHAR: In a development that could send senior jail department officials into a huddle, deputy superintendent of police (jails) Vikramjeet Panthe in a representation to the Jalandhar police commissioner on Monday claimed that his immediate superior superintendent of police (jails) Paramjeet Singh Sandhu is behind the murderous attack on him that took place on June 27.
Panthe, who is on medical leave after the attack, claimed Sandhu has links with the drug mafia. “I received three calls (on July 6, 10 and 11) from a jail inmate who revealed that Sandhu was also involved in the attack in which I suffered serious injuries after a bullet hit me in the leg,” he added.
It is also pertinent to mention here that Paramjeet Singh Sandhu was recently transferred to Nabba jail after Panthe made a separate representation to the jail minister that Sandhu had promoted a warder, Gurdev Singh, as head warder by allegedly issuing a backdate letter.
The DSP alleged he had informed the police about the calls and even handed over five recordings a month ago but the police never made his revelations part of the investigation.
He went on alleging that the city police had investigated Sandhu’s call records in which it had found that the SP has been using software that does not show any record of his calls.
He also alleged that the jail superintendent was the only person who had information that he was going to Jalandhar on June 27 evening after taking a half-day leave.
SP (jails) Sandhu said, “All allegations made by Panthe against me are baseless and I do not know the reason behind this. I never used internet calls or any software for calling.”
