UAE DIPLOMAT COMPLAINS OF HARASSMENT

AGRA: A diplomat from the United Arab Emirates complained of harassment and rude behaviour by the staff of the Archaeolog­ical Survey of India at the Taj Mahal during his visit on Sunday. The incident occurred when the diplomat was purchasing tickets for himself and his colleagues. 16-yr-old Mahadalit student gang-raped, killed BHABUA: A 16-year-old Mahadalit intermedia­te student was allegedly raped by her tutor and three others and then killed in Bhabua on Sunday. The accused include the girl’s tutor Satyendra Yadav, his nephew Jai Prakash Yadav, government school teacher Jai Prakash Ram and his brother-in-law Vijay Ram. According to the FIR, the girl’s tutor brought her to the coaching centre’s building where the other three lived as tenants. The four raped and then killed her. Trinamool worker shot dead in West Bengal BAHARAMPUR (WB): A Trinamool Congress worker was shot dead by unidentifi­ed assailants in Murshidaba­d district on Sunday, police said. The incident took place when Achhor Ali, 35, was going to a tea stall and was shot dead by assailants. 13 new battalions to be raised to tackle Naxals New Delhi: Thirteen new armed police battalions, including one comprising mostly tribals from the worst Maoisthit districts, will be raised by the government to tackle the Naxal menace. The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved 12 India reserve battalions for the Left Wing Extremism affected states. Of the 12 battalions, four will be raised in Chhattisga­rh, three each in Jharkhand and Odisha and two in Maharashtr­a. Centre allots `2k cr extra grant for Chardham NEW DELHI: The Centre’s ambitious Chardham project to provide all-weather connectivi­ty to Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri and Gangotri in Uttarakhan­d got a shot in the arm with the finance ministry sanctionin­g an extra budgetary support of `2,070 crore for the project. The project aims at connecting the four religious places at a cost of `11,700 crore.
