BCCI doesn’t need CoA nod to call SGM: Vinod Rai

NEW DELHI: The head of Committee of Administra­tors (CoA) Vinod Rai made it clear that the BCCI officials don’t need their approval to convene a Special General Meeting (SGM). “They (BCCI) don’t need CoA approval to call Special General Meeting (SGM) but yes they have to keep us in the loop. Also the decisions taken at SGM do not need any ratificati­on of CoA per se but if there is any deviation from SC diktat, the COA steps in,” former CAG Rai said after IPL Governing Council meeting. The BCCI officials announced that the SGM will be held as per schedule on April 9.

SHUKLA IPL CHAIRMAN

Rajeev Shukla chaired the IPL Governing Council meeting on Thursday and Rai said that he continues to remain the IPL chairman. “Mr Shukla is not disqualifi­ed as per Supreme Court order,” Rai clarified. Among the IPL GC members, PV Shetty, Sourav Ganguly, CK Khanna, Aniruddh Chaudhary were present in person. Amitabh Chaudhary attended via tele conference.

PLAYOFF IN MUMBAI

The Governing Council decided that Mumbai will host a playoff as their playoff last year was shifted due to drought situation.

FAB FIVE FELICITATE­D

The Governing Council also decided to felicitate five legends -Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Virender Sehwag, during the IPL opening ceremony.

RELEASE OF IPL FUNDS

The Committee of Administra­tors (CoA) agreed to release funds to state associatio­ns immediatel­y for the IPL games.
