A 32-year-old man hanged himself from a ceiling fan at his Sonepat residence on Saturday and live-streamed the suicide, which he said was triggered by the harassment he faced from two Delhi police officers.

Police said the deceased Deepak Kumar, a service engineer with Tata Teleservices, scribbled the reason for him committing suicide on a wall of his house and wrote a detailed version in his diary. According to police, Deepak blamed a lady head constable, Usha Bose, and ASI Suresh Vats of forcing him to take the extreme step.

Deepak stated that he had found about his neighbour Usha’s affair with Vats and another Delhi cop Arvind Kumar on March 6 and had also informed Usha’s husband about it, following which the lady constable and Vats threatened to kill him.

“The reasons for my suicide are only and only Suresh Vats and Usha Bose,” he scribbled on the wall of his room, and requested his father to not reach a compromise with the accused.

Deepak’s wife Kiran said he had told her that he was getting constant death threats from the accused police officers. On Saturday night, he sent his wife and eight-year-old son to his relative’s place and hanged himself at his residence.

When the 29-minute video went live, one of Deepak’s friends called up his family but by the time they reached his residence, Deepak had committed suicide.

Sonepat SHO Ajay Malik said they had registered a case of abetment to suicide against the three

cops. “Arvind’s role is not clear yet. We have booked him since his name was mentioned in the suicide scribble. We are conducting raids to arrest the accused,” he said.
