CBSE withdraws affiliation of 3 schools in UP for flouting norms
Cracking the whip on private schools flouting norms, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has withdrawn the affiliation of three private schools in Uttar Pradesh and downgraded affiliation of two others after complaints of irregularities.
Five other schools that have been served notices include DPS Bhopal, Tagore Senior Secondary School in Tamil Nadu, Matoshree Kashiben Vrajlal International Vidyalaya in Mumbai and Margadarshan Central School in Karnataka.
The board has debarred Kings N Queens World School in Kanpur from giving admission in Class 11 and 12 for two academic sessions after an inspection committee found it guilty of admitting students without sanction. According to officials, the school also concealed facts from the enrolled candidate during the admission process.
Among the schools whose provisional affiliation has been withdrawn are The Pillars Public School in Gorakhpur, Rajni Public School in Bulandshahr and Sir Syed Public School in Varanasi.
“The affiliation of Bal Niketan Junior High School in Varanasi and Noorul Huda English Medium School in Lucknow has been downgraded by CBSE from senior secondary level to secondary level,” an official order said.
The board has also issued show cause notices to five private schools, asking why their affiliation should not be withdrawn for various violations, including lack of sanitary facilities, non-constitution of sexual harassment committee and irregularities in appointments among others.
“In the coming days, more schools that have been found violating various affiliation rules of the board will be issued show cause notices,” a senior official said.
The board recently issued show cause notices to over 2,000 schools affiliated to it for not making certain information public.
“Till now, I have not received any official information regarding affiliation. I am leaving for Delhi tomorrow (Friday) to meet the CBSE chairman,” RP Shahi, director of The Pillars School, said. Haji ishtiyaq Ahmad, manager of Sir Syed Public School, said the decision taken by the board was wrong and they didn’t serve a notice before the action.
