No power cut during paddy season, says PSPCL director
We will make it sure that farmers get uninterrupted free power supply for eight hours a day.
JALANDHAR: On his first visit to Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) North zone, after taking the charge, director (distribution) NK Sharma assured that proper power supply will be made available to farmers and consumers.
Interacting with media on Saturday, the former chief engineer said, “Power department will make it sure that farmers get free power supply for eight hours a day.”
As the paddy season is expected to start from June 15, along with the rising mercury level, the demand of power has increased in the state.
Assuring uninterrupted power supply will be challenging for the power department as the demand is expected to witness a steep rise by the end of this month.
“We are making arrangements for uninterrupted quality supply to consumers,” said Sharma.
The Punjab Power Engineers Association welcomed the decision of the government to appoint former chief engineer as the director distribution.
“Engineer OP Garg and engineer NK Sharma, both have clean records and are experts in their respective fields,”a press release issued by the association stated
“They will contribute in improving the performance of the power company,” the press release read.
Sharma was appointed director distribution PSPCL on June 8.
