Simranjit dares Capt to get Badal arrested
HOSHIARPUR: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann has dared CM Captain Amarinder Singh to get former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal arrested in Behbal Kalan police firing, which claimed lives of two youths in Faridkot in 2015.
Referring to the recent allegations of the CM that Badal was behind the unwarranted police firing during the anti-sacrilege protests, he said if Amarinder really meant it, he should ask the police to arrest Badal.
“An FIR has already been registered in the case. If Amarinder feels that Badal is the main culprit, he should get him arrested,” he said on Monday.
He alleged that there was a tacit understanding between the Centre and the state government. “If Amarinder dares to proceed against the Badal family or any BJP leader, the Centre will up ante against his son and him and use agencies like Enforcement Directorate to nail them in corruption cases,” he added.
Expressing concern over accelerated tension on the Sino-Indian border, Mann said the Centre must resolve the situation as soon as possible to avoid war.
The two-time MP and former IPS officer said the Modi government was biased against minority communities. “It is ready to kneel before China but not ready to open dialogue with Pakistan. The Hindutava mindset of the BJP leaders comes in the way of communicating with Muslims,” he added. Condemning sedition case against ‘Sikhs for Justice’ for putting up ‘Referendum 2020’ banners in Punjab, he said in India, demanding rights was an offence but killing innocents in the name of religion and even cow was not. “People like Baba Ramdev can speak of beheading people who do not chant Bharat Mata Ki Jai and get away with it but when a minority community talks of its rights, they are regarded as traitors,” Mann said.
