Khattar gives more power, responsibility to panchayats
Panchayat samitis in Haryana will now be given more responsibilities apart from monitoring developmental works, said chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar during a public meeting at Jind on Saturday.
He also announced that every zila parishad will get a budget of ₹10 crore while every panchayat samiti will be given ₹2.5 crore for executing development works in their respective areas.
Khattar also said that development of constituencies where BJP candidates had lost the election was being done in discussion with the MLA whichever party he belongs to.
“There is no assembly constituency in the state which has not been given ₹150 to ₹200 crore for development works. Since the formation of Haryana state, only some areas were developed while others such as the Jind district were ignored,” he said.
Taking a dig at the opposition parties, Khattar said if the previous governments had taken interest in the development of the state, Haryana would have been a role model for its peers.
Khattar said wi-fi facility would be made available in all villages so that the youth there could participate in the development of their areas by getting linked with the world.
Earlier, Khattar also inaugurated the newly constructed block of the 100-bed civil hospital at the cost of ₹22 crore, 33 KV sub-station in Kurad village, Keda Khemawati, Retauli and Sector-8 at a cost of ₹2.5 crore, Gymkhana club at the cost of ₹4.5 crore and 58 chambers constructed at the cost of ₹1.21 crore for advocates in Safidon.
